Do you suffer from pain and fatigue? You may be eligible to participate in new research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
At UAB’s Neuroinflammation, Pain & Fatigue Laboratory, our goal is to end chronic pain and fatigue for millions of people across the world. With advanced brain imaging, we are seeking ways to visualize the cause of chronic pain–to make the invisible visible.
This study, led by Dr. Jarred Younger, looks into conditions such as Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and their relation to inflammation in the brain. By taking part in this research study, you play a vital role in UAB’s internationally-renowned research while helping the future of women suffering from chronic pain, fatigue, and inflammation.
Who Can Participate in the Study?
The Neuroinflammation, Pain, and Fatigue Lab is looking for specific candidates for this brain imaging study. This is not a treatment study. Instead, participants are helping advance the knowledge of pain and inflammation for millions of women who suffer from these conditions worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions
This study uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure the brain. Participants will attend one screening session for blood tests and health checks. The brain scan will take about 45 minutes. All research is conducted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
All tests are free, and you will receive compensation for your time. Participants can receive up to $250 for completing the study.
